Camps

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is proud to be the leading provider of Diabetes Camps and serve as a financial supporter of other diabetes camps across the country. Through these efforts, the Association serves more than 10,000 children with diabetes each year.

The mission of the ADA is to prevent and cure diabetes, and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. ADA Diabetes Camps fulfill a big part of our mission leaving a long-term, positive impact on children's lives- and families.

Camp Lakota

Camp Lakota is held at the Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt, WI. The camp serves 300 youth with diabetes in two one-week overnight camp sessions, help them learn how to manage their disease in a well-supervised environment, among peers who share their same day-to-day challenges in diabetes management.

A typical day includes swimming, education, boating, arts and crafts, having fun and making new friends. We achieve your child's man goal in attending camp- having fun and meeting other kids with diabetes.

The true cost of sending a child to camp is $1,682. It is through a partnership with the Wisconsin Lions Foundation who offers their camp facility; the pharmaceutical companies who donate the medical supplies; and the healthcare professionals who donate their time and expertise at Camp, that the Wisconsin Area American Diabetes Association is able to offer Camp Lakota for only $115 per camper.

This summer Camp Lakota will feature two sessions. Session 1: July 29-August 3, 2012 and Session 2: August 5-August 10, 2012.
